The mulberries are coming on strong!
If you came to the orientation in June, sign up and come on the day you sign up for but the actual timing can be flexible. Please let Sara know your ETA via email ennisjsara@gmail.com or text 503-267-2383.
If you have not already been here, please go ahead and sign up for a date but coordinate timing with Sara so she can give you a quick orientation and have you sign the Belle's orchard release form. (copies provided or bring your own).
Enter the orchard going through two gates on the right side of the house. The mulberries trees will be evident by the tarps lying underneath them.
General Harvest Instructions:
- Please gather the berries on the tarps into your containers. Those that have been on the ground are especially good for fermenting, cooking, and even dehydrating (think mead, vinegar, syrup, jelly, etc.)
- Replace the tarps and gently shake the accessible branches. If there are long sticks around you can use those to knock higher branches. These will be your freshest berries. You may also hand pick.
- Please replace the tarps again.
You may use the spigot on the house to wash your hands. Stains come out with lemon juice, hot water, and stain remover.
Don't forget your containers!
