Food Systems! W/ Oregon Food Bank CEO Susannah Morgan & author of Big Hunger Andrew Fisher

Join Portland Fruit Tree Project on Thursday, April 15th from 6-7pm for another virtual happy hour event!

As of 2021, 1 in 4 Oregonians faces food insecurity. This number represents double what was recorded before the pandemic. PFTP is dedicated to providing a community-based solution to accessing healthy food. At this happy hour, we will be talking with two amazing individuals who are working hard to fight hunger.

We will be chatting with anti-hunger and sustainability aficionado Andrew Fisher. He is the author of “Big Hunger: The Unholy Alliance between Corporate America and Anti-Hunger Groups” and a former interim executive director of PFTP. Andrew stresses that strengthing local economies will help solve the hunger crisis. He has extensive experience with the food movement including co-founding the Community Food Security Coalition and leading campaigns that helped establish the Community Food Projects and Farm to School grants.

We will also be chatting with Susannah Morgan, CEO of the Oregon Food Bank since 2012. Susannah started her food banking career at the San Francisco Food Bank and spent a decade as executive director of the Food Bank of Alaska. Along with several other accomplishments, she is currently a vital member of the national network of food banks.

Food is a human right. Food nourishes our body, brain, and spirit. Being fed is necessary not only to survive but to thrive. There is plenty of food, so what continues to be the problem?
